Nicolas Claris is an internationally renowned photographer and a pioneer of digital photography in the nautical industry. Recognized for his exceptional yacht interior photography, he combines technical precision, artistic vision, and a deep understanding of the maritime world to capture the beauty of yachting through a distinctive visual perspective.
Growing up in Cannes, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and its vibrant nautical culture, Claris developed an early passion for sailing and imagery. Before becoming a professional photographer in 2000, he worked as a boatbuilder, sailed across the Mediterranean and Caribbean, and established his own communications agency dedicated to the nautical industry.
His work has earned him international recognition, with commissions from leading shipyards, architects, charter agencies, and magazines. Beyond yachting, his portfolio extends to architecture and gastronomy, reflecting his creative versatility and commitment to capturing the essence of every subject. His signature photographic approach revolves around what he calls “the blue note”, the fleeting moment when light, composition, and reality come together to create beauty.
A Pentax ambassador for more than 12 years, Claris has also been actively involved in leading nautical and photography organizations, including the International Superyacht Society and the Fédération Française des Industries Nautiques.
